The Ocean of Blue

The tides of blue rise and fall within me. The water kisses the shore of my tongue to the back of my teeth, I swallow it whole, not ready for it's vastness to spill out from my lips. I can't seem to speak at the frequency of others, peoples voices gather around me like round tables at capacity. I can't seem to decipher the echoes that spill from their oceans.

The wind from the waters rush over my shy skin, goosebumps rise, causing my blood to tsunami around my bones. I tilt my chin up to the sky, I slowly realize that the only reason the ocean holds so much blue is because of him. The Sun. The Sun illuminates our view, splitting molecules right before our eyes. A light blanket of blue wraps around the Earth, holding us tightly to the deliciously muddy red surface. The illusive nature of blue captivates our being, it lives a nomadic life, shifting homes from the sky to the ocean and back again. Rarely does it ever visit the Earth, very seldom you will find that it lays its coat over the delicate petals of flowers. Perhaps its abyss is too heavy for a flower to hold, its transcendence so bold it honors only the sky.
I wonder if people with blue eyes spent too long staring at the sky, or maybe their ocean rages so strongly inside of them that it built its own barricade around their irises. Curious it may be, it appears that my high tide has risen to cover a quarter of my west window. I close the shutters, hoping no one tries to see the storm raging inside.

Painting:

Very blue piece, rare to find a writer with such an incredible understanding of colors and how they reflect the world we live in!
